PARAPARAUMU BEACH LINKS Paraparaumu Beach
is a true Scottish style links course, ranked within the top
100 in the World. With the winds off the Tasman Sea teasing
each shot, this course will test the best . Set amongst sand
dunes, the fairways are tight and bordered by heavy rough.
The greens are true and fast and well protected by bunkers
and the natural contours of the course.
From an easy starting hole, the second requires a long carry
to the green perched on the top of a sand dune. From there
on, enjoy the variety and challenge of each hole. Some require
delicacy, some a big drive. Good planning is rewarded, but
the stray shot will be punished.
Paraparaumu Beach
has hosted the NZ Open regularly over the past decade.
It is a challenge enjoyed by the top professionals.

In
January 2002, Tiger Woods lined up in the field. In the battle
of the Tiger versus the Beach, the Beach came out ahead!
The modern course was conceived in
the 1940s. Former Australian Open Champion, Alex Russell completed
the course design by 1949 which remains essentially unchanged
to this day.
Links golf is unlike
that played on inland courses. The well drained undulating
fairways, fierce rough, fast greens and intimidating bunkers
combine with the naturally windy coastal weather to create
a truly challenging golfing experience.
The course is located
on the Kapiti Coast about one hours drive from Wellington
City and has all the normal amenities you would expect from
a golf club.
