FORMOSA
AUCKLAND
The Formosa Auckland
Country Club is another of the fine additions to New Zealand's
golf resorts.
Located about one hour drive south of
Auckland City, Formosa Auckland is sited at the foot of the
Hauraki Gulf.
Designed by Sir Bob
Charles, widely acknowledged as the best left handed golfer
through the 60's and 70's, the course is modeled on the Augusta
National, home of the US Masters.
Formosa is listed
in The Finest Golf Clubs of the World. A superb golf
course, at over 6650 metres (over 7300 yards) off the back
tees, it is one of the longest in New Zealand and is set against
the stunning backdrop of the Hauraki Gulf.
|
It
has panoramic views of Waiheke Island and Rangitoto from its
clifftop and coastal fairways, along which hundreds of pohutukawa
trees and palms have been planted. Sixteen of the course's
holes have northerly views of the Hauraki Gulf and its many
islands.
Demanding for the skilled
golfer, yet suitable for the relaxed, friendly challenge,
it may be played year round.
The Formosa Auckland Country Club is truly a piece of paradise.
Fifty luxuriously appointed Villas has expansive views over
the Golf course and Hauraki Gulf. The Villas are designed
to provide guests with luxurious and elegantly appointed accommodation.
